About Bioengineering

Prof. Samir Mitragotri from Harvard University defines bioenginering as: “the application of engineering principles to understand, modify, or control living systems “ . Further, he explained that: Bioengineers need to have a solid education in engineering and a working knowledge of biology, physiology, and medicine”. The impact of the presence of the group Research Bioengineering can be expected greatly to the academic life of the campus of  Brawijaya University, This is because the field of bioengineering can improve the performance and lower the cost of health technologies, increasing labor productivity in industry, and improve the comfort of work. Some areas of bioengineering are the focus of the research carried out by its members, namely:

  • Assistive Technology
  • Biomaterials
  • Independent living
  • Mathematical modelling of human physiology
  • Neurotechnology
  • Rehabilitation
  • Sports and physiological monitoring
  • Sports technology
  • Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
  • Wearable technology
  • Ergonomics & Human Factors

Bioengineering research group is very open to do the teaching, research and service to the community. In addition, we are committed to continue to enhance cooperation with other institutions to generate better innovations of technology products.
